2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

• Account details: Email address and password (stored as a one-way hash) when you sign up with email/password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google's OAuth service.
• Contact messages: Name, email address, and message content when you contact our support team.

2.2 Information from connected YouTube accounts

When you connect your YouTube channel via Google OAuth, we receive and store:

• Channel name, profile picture, and subscriber count
• Video metadata: titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, view counts, like counts, comment counts, publish dates
• OAuth access and refresh tokens (encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption)
• Upload playlist ID (used to sync your content)

We do not access your private YouTube data, personal Google Drive files, Gmail, or any Google service other than YouTube and your basic profile (name and email).

2.3 Usage data

• Pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the app
• Analysis runs, clip jobs created, and schedules set
• Daily usage counts (for plan limit enforcement)
• Device type and browser (for compatibility and support)
• IP address and approximate location (for security and fraud prevention)
• Log files and error reports

2.4 Payment information

Payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not store your full card number, UPI ID, or bank account details on our servers. We retain transaction records including amount, date, and plan for accounting and support purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the service: Process your videos, run AI analysis, generate optimised metadata, manage clip jobs, and handle scheduled uploads.
• To manage your account: Authenticate your identity, enforce plan limits, and communicate account-related information.
• To improve the product: Aggregate, anonymised usage data helps us understand how BettaTube is used and where to improve.
• To communicate with you: Send transactional emails (payment receipts, feature updates, support responses). We do not send unsolicited marketing without your consent.
• To prevent fraud and abuse: Monitor for suspicious activity, enforce our Terms, and protect other users.
• To comply with legal obligations: Retain records as required by Indian law including the IT Act 2000 and applicable tax regulations.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interests: Security, fraud prevention, product improvement, and service communication.
• Consent: Where you have explicitly opted in (e.g. marketing communications).
• Legal obligation: Where required by Indian law.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: Cloud hosting (Google Cloud Platform), payment processing, and AI API providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.
• Google / YouTube API: We interact with Google's APIs to read and update your YouTube channel data as authorised by you. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Legal requirements: If required by a court order, government authority, or applicable law.
• Business transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred to the new entity. You will be notified in advance.

6. Google API Data — Limited Use Disclosure

BettaTube's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

• We only request YouTube data scopes necessary to provide the features you have requested.
• We do not use YouTube data to serve advertisements.
• We do not allow humans to read your YouTube data unless you have given explicit permission for support purposes, or it is required for security investigation.
• We do not transfer your YouTube data to third parties except as necessary to provide the service.

You can revoke BettaTube's access to your Google account at any time by visiting myaccount.google.com/permissions.

7. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained for the duration of your account. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
• YouTube channel data and analysis results: Retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after account deletion.
• Payment records: Retained for 7 years as required by Indian tax law.
• Log files: Retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Encryption of OAuth tokens at rest
• Hashed and salted password storage (we never store plain-text passwords)
• Access controls limiting who can access production data
• Regular security reviews

9. Cookies

BettaTube uses essential cookies to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking cookies, third-party advertising cookies, or analytics cookies that follow you across websites. You can clear cookies from your browser at any time.

10. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements).
• Withdrawal of consent: Disconnect your YouTube account or delete your BettaTube account at any time from your account settings.
• Data portability: Request your data in a portable format.

11. Children's Privacy

BettaTube is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by email and post the updated policy on this page with a revised date. Continued use of BettaTube after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
